Why Do We Use Hemp Oil?

by Liam Brehme on August 07, 2021

Many people hear hemp oil and think hippies and a certain party plant. But cold-pressed hemp seed oil is very different from cannabidoil, or CBD, which is an extract from the cannabis plant and used often in alternative medications.

The hemp oil we use in all our Truth By Nature products is extracted from the hemp seed not the cannabis plant, and contains none of the high-flying compound, THC. But hemp oil is packed with so many natural goodies that make it a powerhouse skincare ingredient.

Hemp oil contains Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids, including linoleic acid, oleic acids, and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). All these fatty acids mean that hemp oil can be used to assist your skin in a number of ways. Here are just five of them:

Moderates oil production

Yes you heard that right, hemp oil actually helps control your oil products. Hemp oil is actually just as perfect for oily skin as it is for dry as it can moisturise without clogging pores. For oily skin it can balance out your oil production, while keeping your skin hydrated. This can help reduce acne caused by excess oil.

Soothes inflammation

There’s a reason so many Truth By Nature customers come back saying our products helped soothe their irritation skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis, it’s because both camel milk and hemp oil are great for soothing inflammation. That GLA we mentioned before, an omega-6 fatty acid, is a powerful anti-inflammatory that also encourages new skin cell turnover. This calms inflammation and irritation while keeping your skin soft and moisturised. Not only is it brilliant for acne but also helps fade acne scars.

Can slow down signs of Ageing

One of the things that makes hemp oil a truly incredible skincare ingredient is that while it can help treat acne in younger skin, it also has anti-aging properties that help reduce fine lines and wrinkles and slow down the ageing process.

Those fatty acids we mentioned earlier, particular linoleic acid and oleic acids aren’t able to be produced by the body but are key ingredients in skin health and anti-aging. Helping soothe inflammation and keep your skin naturally moisturised will also help fight the signs of ageing.

We hope you now know a bit more about why Truth By Nature loves to use hemp oil in almost all our skin care products, it’s suitable for every skin type and can help treat a huge range of skin concerns, from acne and inflammation, to aging, or just keeping your skin soft, plump, and moisturised.
